Introduction
The SIMSRH library, as the knowledge hub of the university, continues to be a vital component of the university’s mission to create an environment that
generates new knowledge through meaningful research. It provides excellent library and information services to its faculty members, research scholars,
and students. The library endeavors to deliver the best possible services to meet the needs of students, research scholars, faculty members, and staff.
There was a long-felt need for consistency and clarity in the procedures and practices of the library in order to improve its efficiency, utility, and services.
This policy document is a carefully designed, broadly stated, written guideline for the library staff to consult regarding procedures and actions to be taken in the library.

1. Library Committee (LC)
The function of the Library Committee is to support the functioning of the library, facilitating its development and activities in collaboration with the management. The purpose of the Library
Committee is to serve as a channel of communication and dialogue between the library and its users. Its primary objective is to establish a bridge between the library, the academic community,
and the University’s management. The Honourable Vice Chancellor is empowered to nominate members to the committee.

Computerization of Library
- For computerization KOHA Open Source software supported by OSS Labs has been procured for automating in-house activities and services of the library.
- The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) will be made available to the users to identify the status of availability of documents in the library.
- Techfocuz 4.0 Digital Library software is installed in the Library
Library Facilities
• Library is provided with computers of latest version with DVD drive, compatible for web browsing and automation purpose.
• Library is provided with WI-FI Internet connectivity extensively used by the library staff, and faculty. It also has a CD-ROM facility.
• Library is having reprographic facility with multi copy photocopying machine and catering for the photocopying purpose for faculty and official work.
Achievements
University Library organized National Conference on ‘Digital Resources in Higher Academic Research’ in association with Centre for Rural Social Documentation, Tumkur University , held on 27th June 2012.
